ACTIVITY 1

Talk to partnersabout how the story behind his about how he found his fortune andconvinced Lotus Blossom to be his bride. Chn to plan their storiesonto a story mountain the chn need to ensure that they include asmany elements of a traditional tale in their stories. Their storywill have the same setting as The Firework Makers Daughter, sosimilar references need to be included. (20 mins)

 

 

ACTIVITY 2

Chn begin to write theirstory about Chang and Lotus Blossom write the beginning and buildup to the story.

(problem, resolution andending to be tomorrow)

Agree and display successcriteria.

PROVIDE 15 MINS WRITING TIME.

Swap books with a partner. Be acritical friend and tell friend what they would give their 3 starsand a wish for.

 

 

Success Criteria

MUST apply level 2 pyramidpunctuation and connectives. Have a go at a level 3 piece ofpunctuation!

COULD vary sentenceopeners and connectives. Use connectives from the VCOP displaythat you have never used before!

SHOULD be able todemonstrate your characters feelings through their actions and uselevel 4 punctuation to create particular effects.

Chn to read through their storymountains again to remind themselves of what they plannedyesterday.

Read through the part of thestory that has been started what feedback did they get from theircritical friend?

 

Complete writing own story continuing to use the agreed success criteria fromyesterday.PROVIDE 30 mins writing time.

Explain to the chn that they aregoing to take the role of the teacher marking their own work with 3stars and a wish.

The chn can use coloured pencils tocircle their use of VCOP and identify a wish for themselves. (15MINUTES)

 

 

Chn need to choose one part of theirstory this may be one paragraph or the beginning.

The chn need to edit and rewrite thissection, taking account of the wish they have just chosen forthemselves.

 

Success Criteria all

All chn should be able toidentify strengths and weaknesses in their own writing.

Chn should be able to uplevel their writing using the VCOP materials for support.
