Know the 4different passes used in netball and the position of the body whenmaking them.

Warm up leg stretch frog jumps, giant steps. Arm stretches.

Teach anddemonstrate 4 different passes.

Childrenplay piggy in the middle.

Warm up Cat and mouse game.

 

Demonstratelanding and pivoting. Children run around and when blow whistlejump, land and pivot.

Start at oneend of the playground in pairs children face each other with 1 ballbetween them. One child runs 2 steps and other child throws ballusing a netball pass then other child runs. Repeat till at top ofthe playground.

Warm up pass and move. How fast can you pass the ball and run to join theback of the opposite line? On go which team is quickest to reach20 passes?

Take inturns to practise a low toss up (players 1m from each other, handsby sides, ball is held between them and tossed up no higher thanshortest ones shoulder height)

A high tossup (players stand shoulder to shoulder and the ball is tossed wellabove their heads)

One childstands with ball above their head demonstrate how to jump up andtake ball must not touch opponent as this is contact and afoul.

 

Play a minigame 8 v 8 with rules being to mark your player, foot step rule andmetre away when marking a player. Players can go in any section ofthe court. Realise importance of finding a good space and notovercrowding the ball.

Warm up cat and mouse with tails.

Practice stand in a circle in groups of 7. 1 player in the circle startswith the ball, 1 player then stands on the outside of the circle bythe player who has the ball. Circle players want to pass ballround the circle accurately and quickly before player on theoutside runs around and gets back to the starting position.

 

Talk to thechildren about different positions in the team and roles of playersin these positions. Talk to them about how they help the team e.g.making space, attacking, defending, shooting etc. Teach thechildren to recognise the best parts of the pitch from which toscore and how to defend these parts.

Put childreninto positions and play a mini game of 5 minutes in eachdirection. Children are to wear bibs and only travel within thesections they are allowed to.

Warm up -Ask children to explain how their bodies feel when they playdifferent games and take on different roles in the game of netballe.g. goal keeper less running around then centre. Teach childrenhow their muscles work e.g. work by getting shorter, relax bygetting longer.

As thechildren to make up a short warm up activity that follows the basicprinciples e.g. raise the body temperature, mobilise joints,stretch muscles etc.

 

Classcompetition class split into 4 fair teams chosen by the teacher.Play offs against each other. Teacher is referee.
